Year 11–13 students from the wider Wellington region are invited to participate in an emergency management training camp which will take place from 10 am Saturday morning 25 June to 3pm Sunday 26 June at El Rancho camp in Waikanae, just outside of Wellington.

Students will have an opportunity to refresh first aid skills, time management, team-building and communication skills, and have fun. The camp will include a series of team-building activities and emergency response scenarios which will incorporate new skills and refresher activities, and will conclude with an Emergency services careers expo.

Activities will include assessment opportunities for the following unit standard:

  • 18408 (Level 3, 3 credits): Demonstrate knowledge of fire and emergency warden duties in the workplace

The assessment activities will be delivered by Fire and Emergency Training Solutions (FETS), a registered Private Training Establishment.

There will also be some pre-camp learning to prepare for camp activities.
