Lisa Sarsfield, Youth Divisional Manager in Tauranga has been selected as our 2018 St John Volunteer of the year by CEO Peter Bradley. The selection pool was made up from our Volunteer of the Month winners and was in support of International Volunteer Day, 5 December.
As a divisional manager, Lisa has offered many extra opportunities for her cadets to participate in their community promoting St John Youth, including community activities such as Migrants Expo, beach clean-up, and the Christmas parade - to name a few.
"Not only does Lisa run her own division, she also assists another local division when they need additional support," explains Marlene Rankin, Regional Youth Manager.
Lisa also commits to one volunteer shift a month.
Alongside the volunteering Lisa does for St John, she also makes care packs for the homeless and women's refuge, which consist of homemade soaps, razors, shampoos and sanitary items.
Lisa contributes countless hours giving back to her community and encouraging the youth members to be kind and caring citizens.
"Lisa is selfless in her giving of time to volunteer in her community," Marlene adds.
As our Volunteer of the Year, Lisa will receive a weekend getaway with a person of her choice. The prize includes flights, accommodation and travel allowance.
Please join us in congratulating Lisa, and thanking her and all of our volunteers for the work they do in our communities across the country. We could not do what we do here in our organisation and our community without them.
Ngā mihi nui!
